Keokuk Street closed from Union to Logan due to a gas line rupture

[November 05, 2014]  LINCOLN - At approximately 8:01AM on November 5, 2014, the Lincoln Fire Department responded to a call of a ruptured natural gas line at the intersection of Keokuk and Clay Streets.

Contractors working on Illinois Route 10/121 broke the natural gas line with a concrete cutter during the course of construction. Emergency personnel are on the scene and Ameren crews have responded and are working to repair the leak.

During the course of this repair, Keokuk will remain closed from Union to Logan Streets until approximately Noon today. At this time, no explosions or fires have occurred. Additionally, no evacuations are necessary at this time due to favorable wind conditions.

City of Lincoln emergency personnel request that motorists seek alternate routes until further notice.
