[November 13, 2014]  MOUNT PULASKI - Bradford Walsh, a Senior at Mount Pulaski High School, placed first in the annual Mount Pulaski VFW Scroggin-Gee Post 777 Voice of Democracy 2014-2015 contest. Bradford and his family were invited to dinner at the annual Veteran’s Day event at the Mount Pulaski VFW. While there Walsh read his essay aloud as part of the day’s program.

With the local win behind him, Bradford will competed in the Illinois VFW 10th District competition. He has the potential then to move on to the State of Illinois VFW Department competition and finally the National Competition in Washington D.C. The National winner will be awarded a $30,000 scholarship from the National organization.

The members of the VFW in Mount Pulaski are happy to have Bradford Walsh represent them in the next round of competition. Hopefully he will follow in the footsteps of last year’s National winner Madison Haley’s who was also from Mount Pulaski.
