[November 19, 2014]  Nov 18 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Tuesday's National Hockey League games:

Penguins 4, Canadiens 0

Beau Bennett scored a goal and added two assists to lead Pittsburgh to a 4-0 win over Montreal at the Bell Centre.

Steve Downie, Brandon Sutter and Sidney Crosby also scored for Pittsburgh while goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 27 shots he faced.

Carey Price made 18 saves for Montreal, who saw their six-game winning streak snapped.

Islanders 5, Lightning 2

Cal Clutterbuck, playing on his 27th birthday, scored in the opening minute of the second period to begin a stretch of four unanswered goals by the New York Islanders in a win over Tampa Bay at Nassau Coliseum.

Mikhail Grabovski and Ryan Strome scored later in the second for New York while defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky made it 4-1 with a power-play goal in the first minute of the third period.

Casey Cizikas added a breakaway goal at 8:55 to again extend the lead to three goals.

Goalie Jaroslav Halak recorded 26 saves for New York, allowing goals from Alex Killorn and Ondrej Palat. Tampa goalie Evgeni Nabokov made 31 saves.

Red Wings 5, Blue Jackets 0

Detroit goaltender Jimmy Howard celebrated his 300th NHL game in style, making 28 saves for his 19th career shutout in a 5-0 win over Columbus at Nationwide Arena.

Tomas Tatar, Gustav Nyquist, Riley Sheahan, Darren Helm and Tomas Jurco scored for Detroit.

Columbus goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky finished with 35 saves in the losing effort.

Bruins 2, Blues 0

Goaltender Tuukka Rask got his first shutout of the season as Boston topped St. Louis.

Rask turned aside 33 shots while Patrice Bergeron and Torey Krug scored the game's only goals.

St. Louis goaltender Brian Elliott made 15 saves in the loss.

Sabres 4, Sharks 1

Brian Gionta scored his first two goals as a member of Buffalo to lead his team past San Jose.

Brian Flynn and Nicolas Deslauriers also scored for Buffalo while goalie Jhonas Enroth made 19 saves after replacing Michal Neuvirth at the start of the second period. Neuvirth made 10 saves before leaving with a lower-body injury.

Defenseman Brent Burns scored for San Jose (10-9-2) while goalie Troy Grosenick made 10 saves.

Predators 9, Maple Leafs 2

Taylor Beck scored two goals and added an assist as Nashville thrashed Toronto.

Derek Roy, Mike Ribeiro, Filip Forsberg, Calle Jarnkrok, Colin Wilson, Eric Nystrom and Roman Josi also scored for Nashville while defenseman Shea Weber added three assists and goaltender Pekka Rinne stopped 29 shots.

Mike Santorelli and Nazem Kadri scored for Toronto.

Leafs goaltender James Reimer took over after Jonathan Bernier allowed three goals in the first period and allowed six goals on 25 shots.

Jets 3, Devils 1

Winnipeg earned a victory over New Jersey with a strong defensive game and solid goaltending from backup Michael Hutchinson. The Jets built a 2-0 lead through two periods, then held on through the third.

Hutchinson finished with 21 saves, while New Jersey goalie Cory Schneider stopped 31 shots.

Mathieu Perreault, Mark Scheifele and Michael Frolik scored for Winnipeg while Patrik Elias scored for New Jersey.

Hurricanes 6, Stars 4

Carolina captain Eric Staal scored two goals and added an assist as the Hurricanes defeated the Dallas Stars 6-4 on Tuesday at American Airlines Center.

Goaltender Cam Ward stopped 23 of 27 shots for Carolina, who also got goals from Jeff Skinner, Patrick Dwyer, Victor Rask and Jiri Tlusty.

Tyler Seguin scored twice for Dallas, who also got goals from Jamie Benn and Cody Eakin.

Capitals 2, Coyotes 1 (overtime)

Washington winger Eric Fehr scored on a rebound 3:16 into overtime to lift his team past Arizona at the Gila River Arena.

Jay Beagle scored in regulation for Washington and defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored for Arizona.

Goaltender Braden Holtby made 23 saves for Washington while Arizona's Mike Smith stopped 20.

Flames 4, Ducks 3 (shootout)

Calgary erased a two-goal third-period deficit to force overtime and Sean Monahan potted the winner in the shootout against conference-leading Anaheim.

Jiri Hudler scored once and defenseman Dennis Wideman twice in regulation for Calgary, who got 24 saves from Jonas Hiller.

Sami Vatanen, Matt Beleskey and Kyle Palmieri scored in regulation for Anaheim while Frederik Andersen made 16 saves. (Editing By Cameron French/Peter Rutherford)
