[October 01, 2014]   The Lincoln College Cross Country team competed at the Brissman/Lundeen Invite hosted by Augustana College over the weekend.

The meet had nearly 50 teams represented and over 600 athletes entered in each race. The men’s team placed 20th overall and was the top Junior College in the overall results. The men’s team was led by Cody Webster. He ran the 8k course in a time of 25:44, placing him 23rd overall and 21st in the team standings. Others running in the top five for the men were Austin Webster (28th), David Williams(177th), Gerrad Straube(187th), and Josh Montgomery(217th).

The women’s team had four individual runners at this meet, so they did not count towards team scores. Mallory Tharp was the top Lincoln runner finishing the 6k course in a time of 24:46 and placing her 127th overall. The other finishers for the women’s team was Akiya Thompson(352nd), Kalina Gordley(466th), and Ashley Corbin(472nd).

Coach Herron said, “This was the biggest meet that we have ever competed in. This meet is always big but this year there were over 1,200 athletes here. I was happy how we didn’t get caught up in the size of the race and ran our own races. I saw several athletes that started too fast and were not able to finish their races. Our team ran smart and seemed to get stronger as the races went on. We have one month until Regional’s so we have to keep improving.”

The Lynx will next compete at the Lewis Invite on October 11th.
