[October 13, 2014]  AMMAN (Reuters) - An Islamic State suicide bomber detonated a truck laden with explosives in the northern part of the besieged Kurdish town of Kobani, near the Turkish border crossing with Syria, a monitoring group and Kurdish sources said on Monday.

The attack took place about 2 km north of Kobani, which has been the scene of heavy clashes between Kurdish forces and Islamic State fighters, who have tightened their grip on the city, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and Kurdish officials said.
