[October 17, 2014]  Oct 16 (The Sports Xchange) - Anaheim Ducks forward Patrick Maroon suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee and will be sidelined four weeks, the team said Thursday.

Maroon was injured in Monday's 5-1 victory over Buffalo. Sabres defenseman Josh Gorges hit Maroon, sending the Duck into the boards.

The Tampa Bay Lightning assigned forward Jonathan Drouin to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.

Drouin, the third overall pick in the 2013 draft, suffered a slight fracture in his right thumb and has been sidelined since mid-September. The Lightning want Drouin, who has not played in the team's first four games, to work on conditioning.

Calgary recalled forward Josh Jooris from the Adirondack Flames of the American Hockey League and placed right winger David Jones on injured reserve with a lower body injury.

Jooris, a 24-year-old Ontario native, played in Adirondack's first two games this season. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by Calgary on July 30, 2013, and spent his first pro season in 2013-14 with the Abbotsford Heat where he put up 11 goals, 16 assists and 67 PIMs. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
