NHL game roundup: Rangers come back in third

[October 22, 2014]  NEWARK, N.J. -- The New York Rangers overcame a 3-1 third-period deficit to top the New Jersey Devils 4-3 in overtime at the Prudential Center on Tuesday.

Kevin Klein scored the winner in the extra period after Chris Kreider, Chris Mueller and Rick Nash scored in regulation for the Rangers.

Jaromir Jagr, Adam Henrique and Jon Merrill scored for the Devils.

Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist stopped 28 shots to earn the victory while Cory Schneider stopped 21 shots in goal for New Jersey.

Maple Leafs 5, Islanders 2

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- The Maple Leafs scored four unanswered goals in a span of less than nine minutes in the second period to top the Islanders.

Phil Kessel scored twice and Roman Polak, David Clarkson and James van Riemsdyk one for Toronto while Nick Leddy and John Tavares scord for the Islanders.

Bruins 5, Sharks 3

BOSTON -- The Bruins scored three goals in the third period to top San Jose.
 


Brad Marchand, Torey Krug scored early and Seth Griffith, Gregory Campbell and David Krejci late for Boston.

Logan Couture scored twice and Joe Thornton once in the losing effort for San Jose.

Canadiens 2, Red Wings 1 (OT)

MONTREAL -- For the third time this season, Montreal trailed heading into the third period, tied the game and came out with the win in overtime, topping Detroit.

David Desharnais scored the winner and Alex Galchenyuk also scored for Montreal.

Henrik Zetterberg scored Detroit's lone goal

Jets 3, Hurricanes 1

WINNIPEG -- Winnipeg snapped a four-game losing streak by beating Carolina.

Andrew Ladd, Adam Lowry and Dustin Byfuglien scored for Winnipeg.

Jiri Tlusty scored Carolina's lone goal.

Predators 4, Coyotes 3 (SO)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Ryan Ellis scored a goal and two assists, then scored the game-winning goal in the fourth round of a shootout as Nashville subdued Arizona.

Mike Ribeiro and James Neal also scored in regulation for Nashville.

Rob Klinkhammer, Keith Yandle and Martin Erat scored for Arizona.

Stars 6, Canucks 3

DALLAS -- Two goals from Erik Cole helped Dallas defeated Vancouver.

Ryan Garbutt , Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn and Cody Eakin also scored for Dallas.

Radim Vrbata, Zack Kassian and Jannik Hansen scored for the Canucks.

Blackhawks 4, Flyers 0

CHICAGO -- Antti Raanta made 32 saves as Chicago blanked Philadelphia.

Patrick Kane scored twice for Chicago, and Brandon Saad and Bryan Bickell once to provide the offense.

Steve Mason made 39 saves in the loss for Philadelphia.

Panther 4, Avalanche 3 (OT)

DENVER -- Brad Boyes' overtime goal lifted Florida over Colorado.

Sean Bergenheim, Brandon Pirri and Aleksander Barkov also scored for Florida while goaltender Roberto Luongo stopped 30 shots.

Tyson Barrie, Gabriel Landeskog and Alex Tanguay scored for Colorado.

CALGARY, Alberta -- Ondrej Palat scored in overtime as Tampa Bay won in the extra period at Calgary.

Valtteri Filppula as scored for Tampa Bay.

Dennis Wideman scored Calgary's lone goal.
