[October 24, 2014]  LINCOLN - The Abraham Lincoln Statue Committee is excited to announce that the life-sized bronze statue is almost a reality. Our gratitude and sense of pride is overwhelming as we think about nearing the completion of this project.

This project was done for Lincoln’s namesake community and it will be the first statue of Abraham Lincoln on the courthouse lawn. We thank the students, the organizations, the individuals, and all who helped make this wish come true.

The last fundraising project involves Abraham Lincoln’s horse, ‘Old Bob,’ a horse Mr. Lincoln rode as he traveled the 8th judicial circuit. This last fundraiser is an opportunity for participants to have their names recorded in our statute history book. Pictures, news articles, records of events and listing of people’s names are being captured and placed in the Logan County Genealogical and Historical Society. As we come close to the finish line, the committee is raising funds to help with the dedication and maintenance of the bronze statue, “Lincoln Rallies the People”. Old Bob has been recreated in an artistic miniature carousel horse that can be seen at National Rent-To-Own.

Chances to win Old Bob will be sold, with the drawing to be held on November 8. All individuals who purchase a chance will be recorded in the statue history book. It is committee's endeavor to have as many people as possible have their names listed in the records.

In order to have your name listed and purchase a ticket, you may call JoAnne Marlin (217) 828-0650 or Wanda Lee Rohlfs (217) 735-2057.
