Penguins 3, Kings 0

The Pittsburgh Penguins notched two power-play goals in the first period and never looked back as they skated past the Los Angeles Kings 3-0.

Right winger Chris Kunitz figured in on all three Pittsburgh goals, scoring two and assisting on the other.

Pittsburgh goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury made 35 saves to earn the win and 30th shutout of his career.

Bruins 3, Sabres 2 (OT)

Left winger Brad Marchand scored 1:20 into overtime, giving the Boston Bruins a 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

Marchand ripped a one-timer into the top right corner of the net following a perfect feed from right winger Reilly Smith.

The winger had also tied the game with 5:30 left in the third period.

Defenseman Adam McQuaid also scored for the Bruins while center Tyler Ennis and right winger Drew Stafford tallied for the Sabres.

Lightning 4, Flyers 3

Center Steven Stamkos scored twice to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Stamkos, who had just one goal and one assist in the previous five games, gave the Lightning a 2-1 lead in the final minute of the second period, then added his ninth goal of the season early in the third.

- -

Devils 2, Jets 1 (SO)

Jacob Josefson scored the lone goal and Cory Schneider stopped all three penalty shootout attempts as the New Jersey Devils beat the Winnipeg Jets 2-1.

The win enabled the Devils to snap a 14-game losing streak when a game goes to the shootout. They lost all 13 games last year and one this season.

The Devils trailed 1-0 late in the third period, but Michael Ryder made a steal in the Winnipeg zone and scored an unassisted goal to tie it at 1-1, sending it to overtime.

- -

Blackhawks 5, Senators 4 (SO)

Winger Patrick Sharp scored the only goal of the shootout to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 5-4 victory over the Ottawa Senators.

A milestone goal by Blackhawks winger Marian Hossa looked like it would be the difference with 6:10 left in the third period.

Hossa picked up the 1,000th point of his career when he capitalised on some fumbling by the Senators defense behind the net and wrapped a shot in off Anderson but Senators center Mika Zibanejad countered with 2:08 left in regulation.

Toews had two goals and winger Kris Versteeg added one to round out the Chicago scoring.

Ryan and wingers Clarke MacArthur and Mark Stone also scored for the Senators.

Panthers 2, Coyotes 1

Scottie Upshall scored a breakaway goal with 9:04 left in the third period to lead the Florida Panthers to a 2-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes.

Right winger Upshall, who had just finished serving a two-minute penalty for charging, came out of the box, took a pass from right winger Tomas Kopecky and beat goalie Mike Smith with a backhand shot that went in between his pads.

It was the first goal of the season for Upshall to give the Panthers their first home win of the season.

Blues 2, Ducks 0

Jake Allen earned the second shutout of his career as the St Louis Blues got goals from left wing Alexander Steen and right wing Ryan Reaves in a 2-0 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.

Goalie Darcy Kuemper made 25 saves in the first 65 minutes, and stopped two of the three Sharks in the shootout.

Koivu also scored in regulation for the Wild (6-3-0) who overcame a 3-1 third period deficit for the second consecutive game to win.
