[September 05, 2014]  SPRINGFIELD - Kenny Coolbeth won this year's second running of the Springfield Mile at the Illinois State Fairgrounds riding his No. 2 Zanotti Racing Harley-Davidson.

The victory tied him for the most points this year in Grand National Championship competition. Coolbeth edged out the winner of the May Springfield Mile, Bryan Smith, and his #42 Kawasaki, by .01 seconds. Jared Mess, rode his No. 9 Rogers Racing Harley-Davidson to a third place finish only .13 seconds behind Coolbeth. It was a very close, a very competitive, and most importantly, a very crowd-pleasing Grand National Championship final on a beautiful Sunday afternoon of the Labor Day weekend.

Jake Shoemaker recorded his second top five in as many races as he rode his No. 55 Hot Shot Motors Kawasaki to fourth in Illinois.

Henry Wiles rounded out the top five on his No. 17 Don's Kawasaki. Wiles has been quietly consistent this season and sits fifth in points following what was his fifth straight top 10.

Just a pair of races remain on the AMA Pro Flat Track schedule, and it will be dog fight between Coolbeth and Smith to determine who will be the 2014 AMA National Champion. The large majority of race fans are pulling for Coolbeth and his fan favorite Harley-Davidson, but one thing is for sure - it will be a great finish to 2014 season!
