Lincoln Youth Football teams off to a good season start

[September 08, 2014]  LINCOLN - Second-third grade team -
The Lincoln Youth Football second-third grade team ran their record to 3-0 this past week. They had wins over Taylorville 21-12, Athens 36-6 and most recently 54-0 over Riverton. The team will be playing at Jacksonville next Saturday.

Fourth grade team

The fourth grade team brought their record to 3-1 on the season defeating Taylorville 7-0 this past Saturday

Jaden Leadley scored the lone touchdown he had 70 yards rushing. Andy Knox had 60 yards rushing. It was their first shutout. The defense was led by Mason Farris, Wyatt Mammen, Rhett Pharis, Chase McCormick, Ashton Koontz, Aden Wurth, Jack Halsey, Peyton Johnson, Conner Boyd, Knox and Leadley .

They team beat Chatham at Chatham on Thrusday 8- 12. The offense was led by Leadley and Knox as well as Issac Decker, Ryan Odonoghue, Brendan Wurth, Burke Wilken, Landon Heinzel, Farris, Gavin Batson, Jacob Beall, Jacob Langley, Zac Manley and Carlos.
 


Their only loss came last weekend at Rochester 18-12. The team had a few calls go against them or they might be 4-0. The Rochester game was only this team’s third loss in four years. They will also be in action next Saturday at Jacksonville.

Fifth grade team

The fifth grade has record of 4-0 after defeating Chatham at home this week 14-6. Lincoln was led by Gavin Gibbons. He rushed for 110yds and had two touchdowns. Elijah Pollice with 55 yards rushing. It was the first time this year they allowed a touchdown. The defense was led by Marco Power with five tackles, Tony Gandolphi with four tackles, Kadin Osland and Bricen Gillum had three, Jake Baker Justin Powell, Jaylen Conway, and Pollice all with 2 tackles and Jamison Carter, Devin Brady, Chase Reed, Hayden Allen, Daylon Kusnerik and David Hurley.

The team earlier this week defeated Rochester 13-0. Offensively Bricen Gillum had a 65 yard kickoff return for a touchdown, Pollice had 100 yards rushing, Gibbons 40 yards and a touchdown. The team was led defensively by Andrew Cline, Osland, Gandolphi, Gillum, and Kylen Baker Jake Baker and David Hurley both had fumble recoveries for Lincoln.

The team also has wins against beat North Mac 28-0 and Pleasant Plains 18-0.

They will also be back in action Saturday at Jacksonville.
