There could be November baseball next season.

Major League Baseball announced its tentative schedule for the 2015 season, with the full Opening Day slated for April 6, preceded by an ESPN Sunday night game on April 5.

Perhaps more significant is the fact that the regular season ends on Sunday, October 4.

The later start and finish to the 2015 season means Game 6 and 7 of the World Series, if necessary, would be played in November.

--Toronto Blue Jays left fielder LF Melky Cabrera underwent season-ending surgery to repair a broken right pinky finger and avulsion of extensor tendon.

Blue Jays pitcher Chad Jenkins also had season-ending surgery to fix a broken right hand.

--Colorado Rockies outfielder Michael Cuddyer was activated off the disabled list after missing the past two weeks with a strained hamstring.

Cuddyer won the National League batting title last season and is hitting .331 this year. But he has been limited to 35 games this season.

--Oakland A's closer Sean Doolittle, who has been sidelined with a strained right intercostal muscle, threw 20 pitches off a mound. Manager Bob Melvin hopes he can come off the disabled list later this week.

--Boston Red Sox utility player Brock Holtz missed his third straight game because of lightheadedness and dizziness.

--Baltimore Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy missed his third straight game with a lower back issue and plans to have an MRI. The team hopes he can play by Friday.

--Kansas City Royals right-handed closer Greg Holland, out of action since Sept. 3 because of a tight right triceps, threw a short bullpen session Monday. He felt better but it's unclear when he will pitch in a game.

--Detroit Tigers right-hander Joakim Soria threw a 27-pitch bullpen session and could be activated as soon as Wednesday if he comes through it with no pain in his sore left oblique.

--Atlanta Braves minor league outfielder Justin Black was suspended for 50 games by Major League Baseball after testing positive for an Amphetamine in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

--The Los Angles Angels selected the contract of right-hander Jairo Diaz from Double-A Arkansas, where he was 2-1 with 11 saves and a 2.20 ERA in 27 relief appearances.

-- Mets right-handed pitcher Vic Black was activated from the 15-day disabled list after missing time with a herniated disc in his neck.

--- Seattle Mariners outfielder Michael Saunders, who has been out since July 10 with an oblique strain and a viral infection, was activated from the disabled list and was in the starting lineup Monday.

--The St. Louis Cardinal purchased the contracts of right-handed pitcher Sam Tuivailala and outfielder Tommy Pham from Triple-A Memphis and also recalled infielder Greg Garcia from Triple-A. The Cardinals also designated catcher Audry Perez and outfielder Rafael Ortega for assignment.

---Atlanta Braves catcher Evan Gattis was out of Monday's starting lineup with strep throat. The Braves hope to have in back within a few days.

---Washington Nationals reliever Rafael Soriano, the team's closer until Saturday, threw a side session before Monday's game. It's uncertain whether he will remain in the closer role.
