[September 10, 2014]  MEXICO CITY, MEXICO - Ruth Broehl Ortega Love of Mexico City, Mexico, and formerly of Elkhart, died May 30, 2014 at her home in Mexico City.

Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday in Lucas Chapel Cemetery, rural Lincoln

Obituary

Mexico City, Mexico-Ruth Broehl Ortega Love of Mexico City, Mexico, and formerly of Elkhart, died May 30, 2014 at her home in Mexico City.

She was born in Elkhart June 8, 1915, the daughter of Bessie Beatrice Miller and Roy Hamman Broehl. She married Silvano Ortega in 1946 and he preceded her in death. She married James A. Love in 1983 and he survives along with his four children. She is survived by her children: Roberto Ortega, business owner in Monterey, Mexico and Dr. Laura Ortega Craig DDS, of Mexico City, Mexico, her grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as a sister-in-law in Mexico City. She is also survived by two sisters: Doris Broehl Hopper of Jacksonville, and Edna “Eddie” Broehl Camp of Lincoln and their respective families.

 

Mrs. Love graduated from Elkhart schools and from Illinois College in Jacksonville. After several years teaching fifth grade in Elkhart, she moved to Mexico City, Mexico and enrolled in the National University. Following her studies she became a Foreign Service officer at the American Embassy in Mexico City, Mexico, a position she held for 35 years.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2014 in Lucas Chapel Cemetery, rural Lincoln, where she will be buried with her parents and infant brother. The Rev. Michael Paulson will officiate. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.
