[September 12, 2014]  Sept 11 (The Sports Xchange) - The NHL announced Thursday a series of rules changes for the 2014-15 season, following approval earlier in the summer by the League's Board of Governors and the National Hockey League Players' Association.

Among in the changes, the 'Spin-O-Rama' move no longer will be permitted either in penalty shot situations or in the shootout. And the goalkeeper's restricted area -- the trapezoid -- will be expanded by two feet from the goal post on both sides of the net.

The Minnesota Wild signed restricted free agent right winger Nino Niederreiter to a three-year, $8 million contract.

The 22-year-old Niederreiter made his Wild debut last season and had 36 points (14 goals, 22 assists) and a plus-12 rating in 81 regular-season games.

The New York Rangers agreed to terms with defenseman John Moore. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it is a one-year, $850,000 contract, according to multiple reports.

With Moore in the fold, the Rangers have all six of their expected top defensemen under contract entering training camp.
