[September 19, 2014]  LINCOLN - Men's soccer defeated Heartland 3-2 in double overtime.

The Lynx opened the scoring early in the first half when Kevin Lopez scored after dribbling several Heartland players.

Heartland would even it up to make 1-1 but the Lynx would find another goal shortly after when Jose Cruz (Moline, IL) slotted Silviano Vaz(Paris France) from half field. Vaz would take it the length of the field and took on several players before hitting a far post shot that found the back of the net. The score would remain 2-1 though the first half and most of the second until Heartland would tie it up 2-2 with 9:58 seconds left in regulation. Overtime was all Lincoln College with Brian Werchek getting a one-v-one with the keeper. However, his shot went wide. In the second overtime Lincoln had a 5 pass combination between 4 players that would end with Werchek scoring the game winning golden goal.

Coach Massena said, "It's a great result for the guys. We let them back into the game but we are happy with how the guys responded and it's nice to get an OT win against a strong conference team.”

The Lynx take on #10 ranked ICC on Tuesday, 9/23 in Peoria.
