[April 02, 2015]  One of my favorite Easter songs is found in a music book called Songs for Saints and Sinners: “Every Morning Is Easter Morning” (subtitle: From Now On). Each time I sing it, I think about what is happening in our world and in my life.

When I was introduced to the song it was in the mid-1980’s. Remember the 1980’s? There was terrible drought and Farm Aid got a shot in the arm as children from the world along with those musical artists who wanted to help sang, “We Are the World, We Are the Children.”

There were hostage situations and when negotiations failed, the nation resurrected “Tie A Yellow Ribbon ‘Round the Old Oak Tree” and the Ribbon Revolution began anew.

The world rejoiced when the Berlin Wall came tumbling down, the symbol of freedom for so many who lived lives untouched by much of the modern world and then became shocked by pictures of incredible poverty and neglect of the people’s needs behind that Wall. And churches began singing “….and the walls came tumbling down…” and families were able to find one another once again as the world flooded into Germany.

Each year, each decade there is another set of problems and fears that are handed to us on a seemingly unending platter.

Each year, each decade we hear about the horrors and pain we humans perpetrate upon each other.

Each year/each decade, we find a new song to sing to counter those fears and anxieties.

Each time we sing “Every Morning is Easter Morning,” we remind ourselves, one another, and the world, that those problems and fears are NOT outside of our ability to right those wrongs!

(Thank you to Avery and Marsh for joining your talents and God-given faith to create this wonderful joy infused song for us to carry in our hearts every day no matter what is happening in the world around us!)

“Every morning is Easter morning from now on!
Everyday’s Resurrection Day, the past is over and gone!
Goodbye guilt, goodbye fear, good riddance! Hello Lord! Hello sun!
I am one of the Easter people!
My new life has begun!

Every morning is Easter morning from now on!
Everyday’s Resurrection Day, the past is over and gone!
Daily news is so bad it seems the good news seldom gets heard,
get it straight from the Easter people,
God’s in charge spread the word!

Every morning is Easter morning from now on!
Everyday’s Resurrection Day, the past is over and gone!
Yesterday I was sad and lonely but today, look and see! I am one of the Easter people, life’s exciting to me!

“Every morning is Easter morning,
every morning is Easter morning!(softer)
Every morning is Easter morning (softer)…
FROM NOW ON!! (LOUD)”

When life gets overwhelming, when the news is depressing, when you are feeling lost and afraid, remember….Christ has risen from the dead and broken the bonds of death! We are Easter people! We have no need to fear! Sing this song every day and you just may find yourself feeling closer to God who created you and Jesus Christ who died and lives again because EVERY morning is Easter morning! FROM NOW ON!!

May the Risen Christ lift you out of the daily strife you experience and set your feet on the soil of faith, hope, and love! A Blessed Easter to you!
