[April 03, 2015]  April 2 (The Sports Xchange) - The Los Angeles Kings signed forward Tanner Pearson to a two-year contract extension on Thursday and also signed forward Jonny Brodzinski to a two-year, entry-level contract.

Pearson's deal is worth $2.8 million, according to TSN.

The 22-year-old has missed 34 games this season due to a broken left fibula suffered Jan. 10 against the Winnipeg Jets. The 2012 first-round draft pick has 16 points (12 goals), a plus-14 rating and 14 penalty minutes in 42 games this season.

Brodzinski, 21, played for St. Cloud State University the past three seasons. In 120 games, he tallied 112 points (64 goals).

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien was suspended without pay for four games as the result of a hit on New York Rangers forward J.T. Miller.

Byfuglien cross-checked Miller during Tuesday night's 3-2 loss to the Rangers. No penalty was called on the play and Miller was not injured on the hit.

The Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with center Anton Lander of Sweden on a two-year contract extension.

Lander, 23, has appeared in 33 games this season and set career highs in points (17), goals (6) and assists (11).

The Toronto Maple Leafs recalled defenseman Andrew MacWilliam from the Toronto Marlies on an emergency basis and reassigned defenseman T.J. Brennan to the American Hockey League team.

MacWilliam, 25, has played in eight games with the Maple Leafs this season, collecting one assist and six penalty minutes.

Brennan, 25, had one assist and nine penalty minutes in six games with the Maple Leafs.

The Boston Bruins recalled defenseman Joe Morrow, 22, from Providence of the American Hockey League.

The reason for Morrow's callup was not immediately clear, although Torey Krug did not take part in the Bruins' morning skate at Joe Louis Arena.

The Washington Capitals recalled defenseman Dmitry Orlov from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League and will return to the team's long-term injury list with the hope of returning this season.

Orlov has missed the first 74 games due to a wrist injury suffered in the world championships last May.

"I feel pretty good. I'm so excited to be back," he said last weekend. "I missed a lot. It was a tough time for me, but right now, so excited to be back."

Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin, who was scratched in the team's 4-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday, is day to day with an undisclosed injury.

"I don't expect it to linger," Penguins coach Mike Johnston said.

Malkin did skate at practice Thursday, participating in the majority of drills.

The Dallas Stars recalled forward Valeri Nichushkin from a conditioning assignment with the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.

Nichushkin, 20, had three assists in three games during his stint with Texas after missing 59 games following hip surgery.

A first-round pick by Dallas in 2013, Nichushkin appeared in 79 games as a rookie last season, recording 14 goals and 34 points in almost 15 minutes per game.

The Chicago Blackhawks reached agreement with forward Tanner Kero on a two-year contract.

The 22-year-old Kero will be sent to Rockford of the American Hockey League.

As a senior at Michigan Tech, Kero led the Huskies with a career-high 46 points, including 20 goals, in 41 games.
