Sentencing of Shannon Barber and Jeffery Wade

[April 06, 2015]  LINCOLN - Recent Activities included the sentencing of Shannon Barber and Jeffery Wade.

Shannon Barber 2012 CF 138:

On January 14, 2015, Shannon Barber pleaded guilty to five counts of Burglary arising out of an investigation in August of 2012. The Court held a sentencing hearing on March 18, 2015 where the Court sentenced Shannon Barber to 7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The co-defendant in the investigation, Jeffrey VanMeter, previously pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 6 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The burglaries occurred at machine sheds and/or outbuildings located in the southern portion of rural Logan County involving five different locations. Power tools, an ATV and other similar items were reported stolen.

The investigation grew to a joint investigation with the Logan County Sheriff’s Department and the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department. Many of the stolen items from the Logan County locations were recovered at Shannon Barber’s residence in Riverton, Illinois. Restitution was also ordered by the Court.

Jeffrey Wade 2010 CF 221:

On October 18, 2012, Jeffrey Wade pleaded guilty to Burglary and was sentenced to 48 months of probation with a jail sentence of 180 days.

Based upon allegations that Mr. Wade violated the terms of his probation, the State filed a Petition to Revoke Probation. On October 1, 2014, Jeffrey Wade admitted to violating his probation.

A sentencing hearing was held on March 4, 2015 where the Court sentenced Jeffrey Wade to 5½ years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with credit for time previously served.
