The Minnesota Twins plan to place right-hander Ricky Nolasco on the 15-day disabled list Saturday because of inflammation in his right elbow.

Right-hander Trevor May will be recalled from Triple-A Rochester and start against the Kansas City Royals in the Twins' home opener on Monday at Target Field.

Nolasco (0-1) felt pain while pitching Wednesday in an 11-0 loss at the Detroit Tigers. He gave up six runs, six hits and four walks in three-plus innings.

An MRI showed no structural damage, manager Paul Molitor said Friday before the Twins opened a weekend series against the White Sox in Chicago.
