[April 15, 2015]  April 14 (The Sports Xchange) - With the season only a week old, the Kansas City Royals already suffered their first injury casualty.

The Cleveland Indians signed Colorado Rockies castoff pitcher Jhoulys Chacin to a minor league contract and designated reliever Shaun Marcum for assignment.

The 27-year-old Chacin was released by the Rockies on March 22 near the end of spring training after he gave up seven runs, 16 hits and four walks in 9 2/3 innings in four appearances.

Bonilla started the season on the 15-day disabled list and received an injection for discomfort in his elbow.

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig plans to cut down on his bat flips at the plate after a hit out of respect for the game.

He began to display restraint Monday night when he homered in the Dodgers' 6-5 win in 10 innings over the Seattle Mariners and tossed his bat aside instead of flipping it into the air. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
