[April 24, 2015]  LINCOLN - George J. (Buss) Laun, 93, of Lincoln, formerly of Hartsburg died at 11:22 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.

Visitation: one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday

Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Hartsburg United Methodist Church

Funeral home: Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, Lincoln

Obituary

George J. (Buss) Laun, 93, of Lincoln, formerly of Hartsburg died at 11:22 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Hartsburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Tami Werschey-Kissinger officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow at Hartsburg Union Cemetery, Hartsburg. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Hartsburg United Methodist Church.

Arrangements were entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.

George was born September 6, 1921 in Eminence Township, the son of George W. and Marie Seefeldt Laun. He married Sara Berninger on June 21, 1952 at Mattoon. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Nancy (Laun) Limback of Valley Park, MO; two sons: Roger Laun of Kildeer and Gary Laun of Hartsburg and four grandchildren and one sister; Maxine Laun of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Dorothy Laun, Mary Laun and Betty Litwiller; one brother-in-law, Carol (Sonny) Litwiller, and nephew Neil Litwiller.

George was a lifelong farmer residing east of Hartsburg until his retirement in 1990. George also custom applied limestone for over 50 years in the area. He was a member of Hartsburg United Methodist Church and the Men’s club, serving in various offices. He was president of the Hartsburg Fire District Trustees when the current fire house was built.
