[August 11, 2015]  Aug 10 (The Sports Xchange) - Boston Red Sox closer Koji Uehara is out for the season with a broken right wrist.

The Red Sox placed him on the disabled list Monday with a non-displaced distal radius fracture. He is expected to be ready for spring training.

Uehara took a line drive off the wrist while recording his 25th save to seal Boston's 7-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Friday.

The 40-year-old Uehara had a 2.23 ERA in 40 1/3 innings this season.

The New York Mets activated outfielder Michael Cuddyer from the disabled list and sent third baseman Eric Campbell to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Cuddyer, 36, missed three weeks with a bruised knee, and the Mets apparently plan to platoon him with rookie Michael Conforto.

The Texas Rangers traded minor-league shortstop Tyler Pastornicky to the Philadelphia Phillies for cash.

Pastornicky, who signed with the Rangers in March, was hitting .283 with one home run and 19 RBIs in 53 games at Triple-A Round Rock. (Editing by Larry Fine) ))
