 Saunders stressed that his doctors called it a "very treatable and
curable form of cancer."
The initial diagnosis came eight weeks ago and Saunders, 60,
immediately started the treatment process at the Mayo Clinic.
"I am taking it step by step and day by day to understand how to
best manage this process," said Saunders, who has attended to all of
his team duties throughout the period of diagnosis and treatment.
"I am attacking this with the same passion I do everything in my
life, knowing this is a serious issue. I also know that God has
prepared me to fight this battle."

The ball is in LeBron James' court.
A spot on the U.S. Olympic basketball team has been guaranteed to
the Cleveland Cavaliers star. The decision is now his to make,
according to USA Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo.
Colangelo told ESPN that he has no problem waiting for James to make
a decision on playing in the 2016 Olympics in Brazil until after
this upcoming season.

Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder and New York Knicks
forward Carmelo Anthony plan to practice with Team USA this week in
Las Vegas, the first substantive on-court activity for the All-Stars
coming back from season-ending injuries.
Durant had foot surgery and played in only 27 games after winning
the NBA MVP Award in 2014.
Anthony had left knee surgery to repair a tendon and sat out the
second half of the 2014-15 season. He said in June he was on
schedule for his comeback.

Nike has decided to let James Harden walk.
According to multiple reports, Nike will not match Adidas' 13-year,
$200 million contract offer to the Houston Rockets All-Star.
The shoe conglomerate had until the end of the week to match the
deal or lose Harden.
Harden has not officially accepted Adidas' offer.

His career spanned 16 years and he made more than $165 million. On
Tuesday, Elton Brand called it quits.
The former Duke star was the first pick in the 1999 NBA Draft by the
Chicago Bulls, where he also was named rookie of the year.
Brand, 36, averaged more than 20 points per game in six of his first
eight years and was a two-time All-Star.

Donald Sterling is suing TMZ and mistress V. Stiviano for secretly
recording a conversation the woman provided to be released by the
paparazzi website.
Sterling charges a violation of his privacy. The recording made
international headlines and drew enough backlash that as Los Angeles
Clippers players considered boycotting playing for the disgraced
owner, the NBA forced a transfer of ownership.
Donald Sterling filed for divorce last week.

Free agent guard Toney Douglas signed a one-year deal with the
Indiana Pacers.
President of basketball operations Larry Bird said Douglas would
compete for a roster spot in training camp.
"He's a veteran player who's a good pro and he can play two
positions. He's the type of player we're looking for with our new
