[August 14, 2015]  LINCOLN - Darren “Scott” Cooper, 50, of Lincoln, passed away at 7:02 a.m. on August 14, 2015 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Visitation: Monday, August 17 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Jefferson Street Christian Church

Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 18 at the church

Obituary

Darren “Scott” Cooper, 50, of Lincoln, passed away at 7:02 a.m. on August 14, 2015 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Scott was born on July 7, 1965, in Lincoln, the son of Robert S. Cooper and Eva Jane Beaver Ott. He was married to Lesley C. Wilson on June 1, 1991 in Lincoln.

Surviving Scott is his wife Lesley; his daughter, Tori (Josh) Schacht of East Peoria; his father, Robert S. (Mary Ann) Cooper; his mother, Eva Jane Ott; his step parents, Cecil and Myra Ott; his brother, Keith Ott of Stewardson; his sister, Brenda Tibbs of Lincoln; and his grandchildren, Makinley and Payton.

Scott was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Ott.

Scott was a retired parole supervisor for the State of Illinois. He also most recently served as the Mayor of Lincoln, IL. Scott was retired from the 183 Fighter Wing Air National Guard, which he served for over 20 years. Scott was a member of the Elks Club; he loved to spend time on the golf course and watch Cardinals baseball. Above all else, Scott loved, and took pride in his family. He was an awesome husband, father, and grandfather.

Services for Scott will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday August 18, 2015 at Jefferson Street Christian Church with Henry Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday August 17, 2015 at the church. Burial will be at Lucas Chapel Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded.

Memorial donations in Scott’s name may be made to Jefferson Street Christian Church or Zion Lutheran School.

Services are entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
