[August 18, 2015]  MOUNT PULASKI - Gertrude Amanda Riggs , a resident of Luther Oaks in Bloomington,  formerly of Mount Pulaski, passed away at 7:45 p.m. on August 16, 2015 at Heartland Health Care in Normal.

Visitation: None

Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday August 19, at Mount Pulaski Cemetery

Obituary

Gertrude Amanda Riggs , a resident of Luther Oaks in Bloomington IL , formerly of Mount Pulaski, passed away at 7:45 p.m. on August 16, 2015 at Heartland Health Care in Normal.

Gertrude was born on November 21, 1924 in Broadlands; daughter of Carl and Mary Cress Fullriede. She married Eugene Maxheimer on May 29, 1950. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1954. She married Aaron Riggs on September 14, 1958; he preceded her in death on September 17, 2006.

Surviving Gertrude are her children: Jean (Gary) Baumhardt of Normal; Judith Noteboom of Durango, CO; Melanie (Clayton George) Riggs of Atlanta; two sisters: Evelyn Neal and Mildred Cotton both of Lincoln; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and two sisters: Margaret Martin and Dorthey Oltmanns.

 

Gertrude was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski and American Legion Post # 447 Auxiliary. Before she retired, she worked for 35 years at Mount Pulaski Farmers Grain and Elevator as the bookkeeper.

Graveside services for Gertrude will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday August 19, 2015 at Mount Pulaski Cemetery with Rev. Jonathan Buescher officiating.

Memorials may be made to either Mount Pulaski Zion Lutheran Church or to Zion Lutheran School.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski, is handling arrangements.
