[August 26, 2015]  Aug 25 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights from Major League Baseball games on Tuesday:

Marlins 5, Pirates 2

Left-hander Brad Hand pitched eight strong innings while second baseman Dee Gordon stole four bases and scored two runs to lead the Miami Marlins to a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Hand (4-3) walked none and scattered nine hits, striking out five and allowing two runs before closer A.J. Ramos recorded his 22nd save.

Indians 11, Brewers 6

Michael Brantley had three hits, including two home runs, while Jason Kipnis and Francisco Lindor also had three hits each as the Cleveland Indians beat the Milwaukee Brewers.

Josh Tomlin (2-1) pitched six innings to get the win, while Wily Peralta (4-8) took the loss.

Reds 5, Dodgers 1

Jimmy Rollins and Justin Turner homered as the Los Angeles Dodgers snappped a five-game losing streak with a 5-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

Rollins handed the National League West-leading Dodgers a five-run lead in the sixth with a two-run homer off right-hander Ryan Mattheus.

The 422-foot blast was Rollins' 13th homer this season. He went 2-for-4 with a double, homer and two RBIs.

Nationals 8, Padres 3

Stephen Strasburg allowed just two runs in six innings while Ryan Zimmerman hit a grand slam as the Washington Nationals beat the San Diego Padres.

Strasburg (8-6) gave up only two hits and struck out seven with one walk.

Astros 15, Yankees 1

Designated hitter Evan Gattis, left fielder Marwin Gonzalez and center fielder Carlos Gomez all homered as the Houston Astros hammered the New York Yankees.

Astros left-hander Dallas Keuchel (15-6) threw seven shutout innings, struck out nine and did not issue a walk.

Yankees starter Ivan Nova (5-6) gave up seven runs on seven hits in four-plus innings.

Rockies 5, Braves 1

D.J. LeMahieu drove in three runs for the Colorado Rockies in a 5-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

LeMahieu went 3-for-4 with a sacrifice fly and scored a run.

Chad Bettis (6-4), who had spent more than a month on the disabled list with right elbow inflammation, returned to pitch five innings and allow one run, five hits and two walks while striking out four.

Angels 8, Tigers 7

Albert Pujols hit a three-run homer as the Los Angeles Angels snapped a four-game losing streak by holding off the Detroit Tigers.

Shortstop Erick Aybar contributed three hits, two runs scored and an RBI for Los Angeles (64-61).

Jered Weaver (6-9) got the victory despite giving up six runs on nine hits in 5-2/3 innings. Huston Street recorded the last four outs to record his 30th save.

Twins 11, Rays 7

Designated hitter Miguel Sano hit a three-run homer in the first inning to lead the Minnesota Twins to an 11-7 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Brian Dozier and Eddie Rosario also homered for the Twins (64-61) as they continue to pursue the Texas Rangers for the second wild card spot in the American League.

Twins reliever J.R. Graham gave up a run in 2/3 innings of relief to pick up his first win of the season.

Mets 6, Phillies 5

Center fielder Yoenis Cespedes homered as the New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Mets (69-56) maintained a 5 1/2-game lead in the National League East over the Washington Nationals, who defeated the San Diego Padres 8-3.

Blue Jays 6, Rangers 5

Toronto rallied for two runs with two outs in the ninth inning to beat the Texas Rangers, a win that moved the Blue Jays 15 games over .500 for the first time since the end of the 1993 season.

Texas closer Shawn Tolleson, who was 25-for-26 in save situations, gave up two walks and then Toronto shortstop Troy Tulowitzki tied the game 5-5 with a RBI single to left field.

Ben Revere then scored the winning run.

White Sox 5, Red Sox 4

Rookie Trayce Thompson had three hits and drove in three runs to lead the Chicago White Sox to a comeback victory over the Boston Red Sox.

Jake Petricka (4-3) pitched a scoreless seventh to get the win. David Robertson pitched the ninth for his 26th save.

Royals 3, Orioles 2

Kendrys Morales homered as the Kansas City Royals beat the Baltimore Orioles to record their fourth successive victory and 14th of their last 18.

Danny Duffy (7-6) struggled with his control, running several deep counts before running into trouble in sixth yet still managed to get the win.

Cardinals 9, Diamondbacks 1

St. Louis right fielder Jason Heyward drove in two runs and scored twice while left-hander Jaime Garcia gave up one run in six innings in the Cardinals' 9-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Catcher Yadier Molina and shortstop Jhonny Peralta drove in two runs each and center fielder Tommy Pham had three hits and scored three times for the Cardinals.

Mariners 6, A's 5

Home runs by designated hitter Nelson Cruz, his 38th of the season, and first baseman Logan Morrison gave the Mariners a comeback victory over Oakland.

Seattle fell behind 5-0 in the top of the second inning but rallied to score three runs in each of the fourth and fifth.

Cubs 8, Giants 5

Kyle Schwarber, Miguel Montero and Starlin Castro hit home runs to back the powerful pitching of Jake Arrieta, leading the Chicago Cubs to an 8-5 victory over the San Francisco Giants.

Chicago (73-51) picked up a game on the Pittsburgh Pirates (75-49), who lost at Miami, in the race for the first wild-card position in the National League.

The Cubs trail the Pirates by two games.
