Toppers rip through Tornadoes

[February 04, 2015]  The Mount Pulaski Toppers went on a tear Tuesday night as they ripped through the Tri-City Tornadoes 74-34.  — 

but that would not last long. The Toppers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard with back to back threes from the Collier twins to lead 6-4. Tri-City was able to stick with the Toppers the first 6:00 minutes of play and even the score at 12 -12 at one point. A fadaway jumper from Lukas Aylesworth would give Mount Pulaski a 14-12 lead at the 1:46 mark and the Toppers never looked back from this point on. Dalton Litterly ended the first quarter scoring by connecting for a three and giving the Toppers a 17-12 lead.

Will Stewart's eight points in the second quarter led the Toppers to a 38-18 halftime lead.

The Toppers continued a balanced scoring attack in the third quarter with Matt Amidon tossing in five points and Litterly and Stewart each chipping in four points. Mount Pulaski led 55-27 at the end of three quarters.

The Mount Pulaski bench saw a lot of minutes in the fourth quarter and it was senior Aaron Durchholz leading the way here with eight points.

By the time the 32:00 minutes of play was over the Toppers had won easily 74-34.

Will Stewart led the Toppers in scoring with 12 points and Dalton Litterly and Brett Huff each chipped in nine points.

The Toppers record is now 12-9.

The Toppers host South Fork Kincaid in a rare Wednesday night game tonight. The JV is scheduled to start at 6:00 with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:30 pm.
