[February 05, 2015]  WAYNESVILLE - Rodger D. Smith, 65, of Waynesville passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

Visitation: None

Graveside Services:  Saturday, February 7, at 2 p.m. at the Union Cemetery in Waynesville

Funeral home: Peasley Funeral Home, Lincoln

Rodger D. Smith, 65, of Waynesville passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

Graveside Services for Mr. Smith will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Union Cemetery in Waynesville with Mr. Dave Taylor officiating. Military Rites will be accorded by the Waynesville American Legion.

Rodger Dale Smith was born on May 3, 1949 in Statonville, Tenn., the son of Curry and Berline Blackwood Smith. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Walker on August 17, 1968. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Berline Smith of Waynesville; two sons: Jason Smith of Atlanta and Andy (Rosetta) Smith of Waynesville; two grandchildren: Dan Smith and Allie Smith; four step-grandchildren: Russell Huffaker, Amanda Boolman, Tiffany Kirby and Kristina Brown; two brothers: Billy Ray (Catherine) Smith of Bloomington and Thomas (Nancy) Smith of Dekalb; and two sister: Shirley (Max) Melton of Tennessee and Brenda (Jim) Tabor of East Peoria.

Funeral Director

He was preceded in death by his father and one son: Shawn.

Rodger graduated from McLean-Waynesville High School. He then served in United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He retired from the Illinois State University Food Service Department.
