Center Brandon Pirri scored with 3:05 left in the third period to
lead Florida to its second consecutive win, a decision over Los
Angeles.
Pirri scored a goal for the fourth game in a row. He has nine goals
this season and six in the past seven games. Centers Nick Bjugstad
and Aleksander Barkov also scored for Florida, which got 29 saves
from Roberto Luongo.
Los Angeles goalie Jonathan Quick, who led the Kings to two Stanley
Cup titles in the past three years, finished with 17 saves. He is
now 1-6-3 in his past 10 games with a goals-against-average well
over 3.00.
Defenseman Jamie McBain and right winger Marian Gaborik scored for
Los Angeles.

Blues 3, Sabres 0
Goalie Jake Allen made 23 saves to lead St. Louis over Buffalo. It
was the fourth career shutout for Allen, who was terrific and made
several standout stops.
 Right winger Vladimir Tarasenko, defenseman Dmitrij Jaskin and left
winger Jaden Schwartz scored for St. Louis, which improved to 12-0-1
in its last 13 games. The Blues are also winners of seven in a row.

Lightning 5, Stars 3
Center Tyler Johnson scored two goals, and left winger Ondrej Palat
had two assists for Tampa Bay in a win over Dallas.
The game was tied 2-2 after two periods, and it was 3-3 with less
than four minutes left. Johnson scored the game-winner with 3:37 to
play, and right winger Nikita Kucherov added an empty-net goal with
1:17 remaining, sealing the win.

Red Wings 3, Avalanche 0
Goaltender Petr Mrazek stopped 28 shots for his first shutout of the
season as the Detroit beat Colorado.
Left winger Justin Abdelkader scored the deciding goal for the Red
Wings. Centers Darren Helm and Luke Glendening had empty net goals
for Detroit, which won eight of its last night to move into second
place in the Atlantic Division.

Islanders 3, Flyers 2 (SO)
Right winger Cal Clutterbuck scored the tying goal in regulation and
the decisive goal in a seven-round shootout to lift the New York
Islanders to a win over Philadelphia.
Center Mikhail Grabovski also scored in regulation and goaltender
Jaroslav Halak made 16 saves and stopped six more in the shootout to
help the Islanders snap a three-game losing streak.

Sharks 5, Canucks 1
Joe Pavelski scored on a five-on-three power play late in the second
period as San Jose defeated Vancouver.
Defenseman Matt Irwin, center Chris Tierney, center Andrew
Desjardins and center Melker Karlsson also scored for San Jose,
which snapped a two-game losing streak. Center Logan Couture and
defenseman Brent Burns had two assists each.

Capitals 2, Senators 1
Washington killed off three consecutive third-period penalties and
hung on to defeat Ottawa at Canadian Tire Centre.
Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin continued his torrid streak, scoring
the game winner at 14:17 of the second period. Center Evgeny
Kuznetsov had the other Washington goal, his sixth of the season.

Hurricanes 2, Coyotes 1 (SO)
Carolina center Elias Lindholm scored the only shootout goal,
lifting the Hurricanes to a 2-1 victory over Arizona at Gila River
Arena.
Lindholm, who had two goals in the first meeting between the teams
this season, scored on the Hurricanes' first shot in the tiebreaker.
The Coyotes could not get a shot past Cam Ward in three tries, twice
losing control of the puck on their attempts.

Ducks 5, Predators 2
Nashville welcomed back All-Star goaltender Pekka Rinne from an
eight-game absence, but Anaheim gave him a rude welcome and flipped
it around decisively.
Right winger Jakob Silfverberg scored two goals, and Corey Perry,
defenseman Sami Vatanen and left winger Matt Beleskey scored one
each for Aneheim. Goalie Frederik Andersen stopped 44 shots, 22 in
the third period, to tie Rinne for the NHL lead in wins with 29.
