[February 09, 2015]  An example of a “Pretend scandal…”

Grandpa and his granddaughter were talking one day. She said she was studying social studies and current events in her middle school class.

She said, “Grandpa, I have a homework assignment to do a paper on some current event. Do you have any suggestions?”

“Well, we might talk a bit about Benghazi,” I said.

“I don’t think I know him, Grandpa. Who is he?”

I thought for a moment and said, “I could tell you all about Benghazi, and you seem interested…in Ben Gauzy.” So, I continued, “Perhaps to get a real feel for the subject you should first use your computer to do a search of the subject.”

She came back a few days later and said, “I found Ben Gauzy, but most of the articles just reported a lot of nonsense.”

I asked her, “So what do you think it is?”

She said, “I think you are just joking with me Grandpa, it is not a ‘who’ but a ‘thing’.

So what ‘thing’ is it?” I asked.

[to top of second column]

“It is a delicate piece of see-through or transparent material,” she answered. “You wrap it around wounds to stop the bleeding and help in the healing.”

She turned around and walked away, smiling to herself knowing she had pleased Grandpa with her new-found knowledge. So she wrote a paper for her class on gauze and its use to help keep wounds sterile during the processing of healing…she titled her paper, Ben Gauzy.

This may seem a bit funny, but it would appear that forty percent of the American people might believe this is the extent of the incident that occurred in Benghazi, Libya in 2012. With the stalling and stonewalling that has been evident from the State Department and the White House regarding turning over information to the Congressional Special Committee on Benghazi, one would think they are still looking for Ben Gauzy. Just ask Representative Trey Gowdy what he thinks.
