[February 13, 2015]  Feb 12 (The Sports Xchange) - Dallas Stars forward Antoine Roussel was suspended for two games by the NHL on Thursday for cross-checking.

The incident took place at 3:43 during the first period of Tuesday night's game against the Bostons Bruins when Roussel cross-checked defenseman Adam McQuaid across the throat. Roussel was given a major penalty and game misconduct after the play.

The Arizona Coyotes announced Thursday that Martin Hanzal will undergo back surgery and probably miss the rest of the season.

The Coyotes also recalled defenseman Brandon Gormley and forward Jordan Martinook and sent defenseman Chris Summers to Portland of the American Hockey League.

The Anaheim Ducks reassigned center William Karlsson to Norfolk of the American Hockey League on Thursday.

 


The 22-year-old Karlsson played in one game during his recent stint with the Ducks. In 17 games overall for Anaheim this season, he has three points and two penalty minutes.

The Minnesota Wild reassigned defenseman Christian Folin to Iowa of the American Hockey League on Thursday before a game against the Florida Panthers.

Folin, 24, has one goal and five assists in 29 games for the Wild this seasson. In eight games at Iowa earlier this season, he totaled two goals and two assists.

The Vancouver Canucks claimed left winger Brandon McMillan off waivers from the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday.

The 24-year-old McMillan had one goal and two assists in 50 games for the Coyotes this season.

The Florida Panthers will be without forward Brandon Pirri for approximately two weeks after he suffered a shoulder injury.

Pirri was injured during his first shift in a 6-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night when he ran into Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf.

The Nashville Predators sent forward Viktor Stalberg to Milwaukee of the American Hockey League and called up defenseman Taylor Aronson on Thursday.

Aronson, 23, leads Milwaukee defensemen this season in points with 26 and is tied for second among AHL defensemen in assists and power-play assists (12) in 45 games. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
