[February 13, 2015]  LINCOLN - Don E. McKinlay, 87, of Lincoln, passed away at 11:36 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015, at Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Visitation: From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, February 13, at Peasley Funeral Home

Service: 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, at Holy Family Church in Lincoln

Obituary

Don E. McKinlay, 87, of Lincoln, passed away at 11:36 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015, at Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Funeral services for Mr. McKinlay will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Holy Family Church in Lincoln. Rev. Simon Taabu will officiate.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Peasley Funeral Home on Friday, February 13, 2015. A prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Military Rites will be accorded by Lincoln American Legion Post #263.

Don E. McKinlay was born on August 8, 1927, in Canton, the son of John and Mildred Lorraine Nall McKinlay. He married Elizabeth A. "Betty" Derrickson on January 12, 1952 in Lincoln. She preceded him in death on May 17, 2014.

Don is survived by his children: Kathleen Jacques, Jane (Dennis) Carroll, Nancy (Dennis) Netoff, Kent (Rhonda) McKinlay, Mary (Tim) Hallisey, Mark (Angie) McKinlay and Karen McKinlay; 13 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and one step-sister.

Don was a member of Holy Family Church, a past Exalted Ruler of the Elks, and a past Scout Master for Troop 109 during which he received the Silver Beaver award. A graduate of Lincoln High School, Don had served our country in the United States Navy. He was retired from Eaton Corporation.

Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of America.

Final arrangements have been entrusted with Peasley Funeral Home.
