Wolverines split pair with Stags in 5th-6th grade home opener

[February 16, 2015]  LINCOLN - The West Lincoln Broadwell Wolverine Fifth and Sixth grade team hosted Hartsburg-Emden Stags Monday night for the home opener of the boys' basketball season.

In the opener, the fifth grade (2-1) fell 22-14.

Brode Whiteman led the Wolverines with six points while Keyton Schmalshoff added four. Also scoring for WLB was Daulton Miller with two, and Andre McAdams scored two.

Hunter Johnson and Mac Briggs each scored six for the Stags while Garrett Hopkins and Connor Johnson each scored four. Also scoring for Hartsburg was Drew McAfee with two.

In the nightcap, the sixth grade Wolverines jumped out to a 14-1 first quarter lead and won 50-22.

Lucas Konczyk led all scorers with 18 and his backcourt mate; Patrick McCraith scored 14 in the win. Also scoring for the Wolverines was, Whiteman (6), Scotty Battin (4), Schmalshoff (4), McAdams (2), and Kaydon Aragon (2).


The Stags were led in scoring by Connor Zinser with nine and Briggs eight. Also scoring in the loss was Denver More (3) and Hunter Johnson (2).

West Lincoln Broadwell will next travel to Springfield to play the Little Flower Falcons on Thursday with the first game scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
