[February 23, 2015]  Feb 22 (The Sports Xchange) - Buffalo Sabres defenseman Josh Gorges will miss the remainder of the season and is scheduled to undergo surgery for an undisclosed lower-body injury.

Gorges, 30, has not played since Feb. 10 against the Ottawa Senators. He has six assists and a minus-28 rating in 46 games this season.

Sabres coach Ted Nolan also said defenseman Nikita Zadorov would not be available for Sunday night's home game against the Nashville Predators due to a disciplinary reason.

In addition, the Sabres recalled defensemen Jake McCabe and Mark Pysyk from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

The Anaheim Ducks placed veteran goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov on waivers, according to reports.

The team signed Bryzgalov, 34, to a one-year contract in December to serve as the backup. He appeared in eight games and posted a 1-4-1 record, 4.19 goals-against average and .847 save percentage.

Bryzgalov's last appearance came on Feb.10 against the Florida Panthers when he allowed three goals on eight shots in 25 minutes of action.

The Dallas Stars recalled forward Brendan Ranford from the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.

Ranford, 22, made his NHL debut on Thursday against San Jose and recorded two hits.

The Toronto Maple Leafs assigned forward Brandon Kozun to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.
 

Kozun, 24, skated in eight games with the Maple Leafs this season, collecting one goal and one assist.

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Steve Mason missed his seventh straight game Sunday as he recovers from arthroscopic knee surgery. He is on track to return to the ice as early as this week. (Editing by Andrew Both)
