Public invited to Trivia Night Fundraiser on Feb. 27

[February 24, 2015]  LINCOLN - Iota Chi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is hosting a Trivia Night contest and fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m., at the Meyer-Evans Student Center on the Lincoln College campus, 300 Keokuk Street, Lincoln.

The event is open to the public and everyone is invited to participate. Proceeds from this year’s event will support Special Olympics of Logan County’s Polar Plunge event. The cost is just $10 per person to enter, with a maximum of eight people per team. A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the winning team. Teams may also purchase mulligans, which can be used to replace an answer the team does not know, allowing them to receive the point for that answer. Each team may purchase a sheet of 10 mulligans for $10 with a one-mulligan-per-round limit.

In addition to the trivia contest, the event will include a team table decorating contest with a prize for the best decorative theme, a silent auction, and a 50/50 Heads or Tails cash drawing. Silent auction items include a certificate for three hours of D.J. service from Joe Beck Entertainment in Bloomington, Ill., valued at $375, as well as a variety of baskets and gift cards.

WLNX - FM Station Manager and Associate Professor of Broadcasting John Malone will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Iota Chi Chapter will provide free popcorn. The Lincoln College Snack Bar will be open at 6:00 p.m. Burgers, fries, cheese sticks, beverages, and other tasty treats will be available for purchase.

When asked about the importance of the fundraiser, Iota Chi chapter President Elizabeth Herzog, a sophomore from Lincoln, Ill., responded, "This is the third year our chapter will be participating in the Polar Plunge, and we are excited to include the funds raised at Trivia Night in our Polar Plunge donation!”

Three years ago, Iota Chi Chapter committed their continuous support to the Polar Plunge, in conjunction with Rotaract and other campus organizations, and the chapter has worked to continually increase their donations to Special Olympics of Logan County.
