Toppers cruise to victory in first game of regionals

[February 25, 2015]  MOUNT PULAKSI - The Mount Pulaski Toppers ended Illini Central's season Tuesday night 67-43 in regional action on the Cougar's home court in Mason City.

The Toppers never trailed in this game as they held a comfortable 19-10 lead at the end of one quarter of play.

The Toppers kept control of the game in the second quarter and headed to the locker room up 30-23, thanks in part to Beau Collier's eleven first-half points.

Mount Pulaski led by as much as 26 points in the third quarter behind the even scoring of the starters and sixth man, Dalton Litterly. Litterly had five points in the third as the Toppers ended the quarter up 56-30.

The Toppers bench closed out the game for Mount Pulaski with sophomore Eli Griesheim going all the way for a layup as the buzzer sounded and round one of the regionals went to Mount Pulaski 67-43.

The Toppers will play Springfield Calvary tonight at 7:30 in Mason City. In the 6:00 game Springfield Lutheran will take on Triopia.

The winners of each game will advance to the regional final on Friday night at 7:00.
