[February 26, 2015]  LINCOLN - On Tuesday, the Lincoln College Men's Volleyball team traveled to Belleville, IL for a rematch with the Lindenwood-Belleville varsity team. Lincoln lost a close four set match to L-B in their first home match of the season.

Lincoln came out strong in set one and led all the way for a 25-21 win. However, Lindenwood was able to regroup and win the next two sets 16-25 and 16-25. In set four, LC returned to form and managed to protect a slim two point lead most of the way. The Lynx even had two set point opportunities at 24-22 and 24-23, but were unable to get the point they needed to fall and eventually lost the set 25-27. The loss drops Lincoln to 10-8 on the year.

LC Stat totals:

Manny Benitez 11 kills, 6 blocks
Lukasz Kupiec 26 set assists, 4 blocks, 7 digs
Adam Krzos 8 kills, 9 points
Wes Higgenbotham 4 kills, 2 blocks
Alex Robles 5 kills, 4 points, 2 blocks
Alec Esparza 13 digs, 3 points
Zach DeLoach 3 kills, 1 block
Brandon Anderson 6 points, 2 digs

LC Coach Mark Tippett: "Our players gave a great effort tonight from start to finish. We fought hard on every point and played with more energy, which was a goal we had going into this match. In the first and fourth sets we were solid in all phases of the game. In sets two and three the score got away from us early, but we never got down about it and that helped us to reverse the momentum in set four.

"It's a shame we couldn't force a fifth set because I'm sure it would have been an exciting finish. Early in that set we made some mental errors that wound up costing us which is typical of young teams. We are learning a lot from the matches we are playing against more experienced competition, and I am confident this will serve us well in the second half of the season."

Lincoln is off until Saturday when they will travel to SIU-Edwardsville to participate in the 16-team MWPVC Club Crossover tournament. LC is seeded #1 going into this event.

Note: The triangular set of matches that was scheduled for this past Saturday was cancelled due to the weather. No date has been set yet to reschedule the matches.
