Under appointments, Julie Parker was reappointed as the Animal
Control Warden and Administrator; and Jane Whiteman reappointed as
the Assistant Animal Control Warden. In addition, Erin Schaffer was
appointed to the Logan County Board of Health.
Under executive matters, Robert Farmer brought forward a motion to
approve the proposal provided by Vanguard as the natural gas
contractor for county facilities.
According to provided figures, the county would have had a savings
$3,628 per year, had it locked in at the lowest rate available. Over
the past year, the county paid $95,798 for natural gas. If they had
worked with a lower provider, the county could have paid $81,286; a
15% savings with a difference of $14,512.

Gene Rohlfs said this contract would last for one year, at
which point the county would put out a call for bids. Chuck
Ruben added that the contract time would begin in May of 2015,
after the current winter has passed. Ruben added that the last
time the county went out for bids on a natural gas price
contractor, only one bid came back and nobody from the bidding
company followed up on it.
The board members unanimously approved the proposal provided by
Vanguard for natural gas.
