[January 03, 2015]  The Atlanta Public Library will host two This Golden Age programs in January. On January 13, Trooper Emmanuel Edwards from the Illinois State Police will discuss the prevalence of scams, particularly those affecting senior citizens. Getting scammed is “no cup of tea,” and Identity theft and scams of all kinds have become a dangerous phenomenon in our culture. Thieves are both creative and proficient in targeting unsuspecting victims. Come learn how to avoid the convincing sales pitches of these criminals.

On January 20, Professor Thomas D. Lutze of Illinois Wesleyan University will visit the Library with an extraordinary sampling of rare and expensive teas. Participants will have a chance to taste some of Dr. Lutze’s teas, as well as learn about the proper ways to prepare and serve tea. Don’t worry if you are not a tea drinker! There will be plenty of other beverages as well. Come and enjoy this informal presentation and learn about the formal traditions surrounding tea.
