Junior High Basketball tournaments begin with seventh grade pairings this weekend

[January 08, 2015]  LINCOLN - While the High School boys basketball season hits its midway point, the Junior High season begins to wind down with post-season conference tournaments.

This weekend, the Logan County Conference will hold it's seventh grade tournament at Jack D. Nutt Arena, on the campus of Lincoln College.

On Saturday, the seventh grade squads from the five member schools will compete in first and second round action.

In the seventh grade tournament, the Panthers of Chester East Lincoln (12-2) enter as the #1 seed with a first round bye.

Game #1 will feature the #4 seed, Crusaders of Carroll Catholic/New Holland-Middletown/Zion Lutheran schools combined (3-10) facing the tournament host Stags of Hartsburg-Emden (0-17) at 10:00 a.m.

Game #2 features the #2 seed West Lincoln-Broadwell Wolverines (14-1) playing the Bruins of Mount Pulaski (14-3) at 11:15 a.m.

Second round action picks up at 12:30 p.m. with the Panthers facing the winner of game #1.

The Third Place and Championship games will then be played on Thursday, January 15th.

The eight grade tournament will begin on Saturday, January 17th.

Seeding for this tournament is expected to be completed early next week, and a complete tournament schedule will then be released.
