[January 14, 2015]  Jan 13 (The Sports Xchange) - Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard is expected to be sidelined between two and four weeks while recovering from a slight groin tear he suffered in a loss to the Washington Capitals on Saturday.

Howard will miss the NHL All-Star Game on Jan. 25 in Columbus, Ohio. Just hours before Howard was injured, he was selected to play in the game for the second time in his career. In 32 games this season, Howard has a 16-7-7 record with a 2.11 goals-against average and a .920 saves percentage.

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Braydon Coburn will be out four weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced Tuesday.

The injury-plagued Coburn missed 12 games earlier this season with a broken foot that he appeared to reaggravate during the Flyers' win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night.

In 32 games this season, Coburn has one goal, five assists and 12 penalty minutes.

Defenseman Steven Oleksy was recalled from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League by the Washington Capitals.

Oleksy, 28, has 19 points (three goals, 16 assists) and 86 penalty minutes in 61 career games with the Capitals.

The Buffalo Sabres recalled forward Matt Ellis from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

Ellis has 13 points in 36 games for the Amerks this season. In parts of eight NHL seasons, he has 47 points in 317 career games. He last played for the Sabres in last year's season finale.

The Tampa Bay Lightning recalled forward Vladislav Namestnikov from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.

Namestnikov, 22, has three goals, four assists and four penalty minutes in 23 games with the Lightning this season.

The Arizona Coyotes recalled defenseman Philip Samuelsson from Portland of the American Hockey League on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old Samuelsson has three points and 14 penalty minutes in 16 games for Portland and four points and 20 penalty minutes in 22 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL this season.

He has made five career NHL appearances with the Pittsburgh Penguins, who drafted him in the second round in 2009.
