[January 15, 2015]  LINCOLN - First Wok, located in the Logan County Hardware plaza on Keokuk St. in Lincoln announced that it will be closing some time in January.  The official date is yet to be announced.

Owner Bruce Sheen, 58, along with his wife Carrie decided that it is time to retire after almost 20 years in the same location.

The Sheen’s immigrated from Taiwan to the U.S., and while living in Vermont, did a nation-wide demographic search for where to locate their Chinese restaurant.  Their research showed that Lincoln, IL was the place.  So they moved from Vermont to Lincoln and established The First Wok.

First Wok may be just a tiny little hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but it is well-known for having the best Chinese food around.  The food there is not only good, it is always good.  Hank Kerr, a well-traveled Lincoln resident, said that he had looked far and wide across the country and could not find a Chinese restaurant where the food equaled First Wok.

Although the facts are still a little sketchy, it is rumored that Sheen’s partner Bennie is buying the business and will be moving it to the Rent-A-Center Plaza some time in the near future.  Sheen asked that those holding gift certificates redeem them as soon as possible.

Bruce and his wife Carrier are well-known for making their patrons at First Wok feel like friends.  They will be greatly missed in the community.
