NBA game roundup: Knicks end 16-game skid

 NEW YORK -- The New York Knicks halted their franchise-single-season-worst, 16-game losing streak with a 99-92 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday at Madison Square Garden.

Carmelo Anthony led New York (6-36), which had dropped 26 of its previous 27 games, with 24 points. This was the forward's second game back after missing the previous eight with a sore left knee.

Langston Galloway, making his first start of the season at point guard for the Knicks, contributed 21 points.

The Knicks' last win was a 101-95 decision at Boston on Dec. 12.

Guards Tyreke Evans scored 23 points and Eric Gordon had 20 for New Orleans.

Warriors 122, Nuggets 79

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Guard Klay Thompson scored 22 points and guard Stephen Curry had 20 as Golden State matched a franchise record with its 16th consecutive home win.

The mark was set originally by the Philadelphia Warriors in 1950. It was the largest margin of victory this season for the Warriors, who have won 10 of the last 11 overall.

Ty Lawson led Denver with 19 points and six assists, and Jameer Nelson had 14 points and five assists for the Nuggets, who have lost three in a row.

 

Hawks 93, Pistons 82

ATLANTA -- Mike Scott came off the bench to score 20 points, eight in the fourth quarter as Atlanta extended its winning streak to 13 games. The Hawks are one win short of tying a club record for consecutive wins, set in 1993.

The Hawks also got 20 points and seven rebounds from forward Paul Millsap, 14 points, seven assists and six rebounds from center Al Harrington and 13 points, six rebounds and five assists from guard Kyle Korver.

Detroit was led by forward Greg Monroe, who had 16 points and 20 rebounds, which matched his career high, and center Andre Drummond, who had 13 points and 18 rebounds.

Hornets 105, Timberwolves 80

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Hornets got center Al Jefferson back a week earlier than expected and won for the seventh time in the last eight games. Guard Gerald Henderson led Charlotte with 17 points.

Guard Brian Roberts added 16 points in place of guard Kemba Walker, who missed his second straight game with inflammation in his left knee.

The Hornets also got 12 points from guard Gary Neal, 11 points from guard P.J. Hairston, 10 points from guard Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, and eight points and five rebounds from Jefferson in 25 minutes off the bench. The Hornets have now held nine straight opponents under 100 points, which is the longest streak in the NBA this season.

Clippers 102, Celtics 93

LOS ANGELES -- Forward Blake Griffin scored 22 points and recorded nine rebounds, and Los Angeles avoided blowing a 23-point lead against Boston.

Center DeAndre Jordan added 19 points on 8-of-19 shooting, 12 rebounds and six blocks for the Clippers, who won their second straight game. Guards J.J. Redick and Jamal Crawford finished with 16 points apiece.

The Celtics dropped their third in a row and eighth in the past 10 contests. They also fell to a Western Conference opponent on the road for the 24th consecutive time.

Wizards 111, 76ers 76

WASHINGTON -- Center Marcin Gortat scored 20 points and guard John Wall had 11 points and 10 assists as the Wizards dominated Philadelphia.

The Wizards' veterans pushed around the Sixers' kids, finishing with a 53-30 rebounding advantage and won with ease despite committing 23 turnovers.

Forward Henry Sims scored 13 points and forward Jerami Grant had 12 for Philadelphia, which fell to 5-17 on the road this season.

Mavericks 103, Grizzlies 95

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Dallas guard Monta Ellis scored 25 points and handed out seven assists, and center Tyson Chandler contributed 10 points and 16 rebounds.

The Mavericks got 10 fourth-quarter points from forward Dirk Nowitzki, who finished with 21 points. Forward Chandler Parsons scored 15 points, and guard Devin Harris had 12.

The Grizzlies had their four-game winning streak snapped. Point guard Mike Conley led Memphis with 22 points, and center Marc Gasol scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Power forward Zach Randolph added 18 points and 15 rebounds.

Rockets 110, Pacers 98

HOUSTON -- James Harden exploded in the third quarter and finished with a season-high 45 points for Houston.

Harden scored 18 points on 5-of-7 shooting in the third, keying a 15-4 run with a trio of 3-pointers that helped push the Rockets to an 86-62 lead.

The shooting guard finished one point shy of matching his career high and shot 12-for-18 from the floor and 14-for-15 from the free-throw line.

The Pacers trailed wire to wire en route to their fifth consecutive loss. Guard C.J. Miles finished with 23 points and six rebounds for Indiana, guard Donald while Sloan chipped in 17 points and six assists.

Cavaliers 108, Bulls 94

CLEVELAND -- LeBron James scored 26 points and forward Kevin Love had 16 points and 12 rebounds in Cleveland's victory over Chicago.

All five Cavs starters scored in double figures, including double-doubles from Love, center Timofey Mozgov (15 points, 15 rebounds) and guard Kyrie Irving (18 points, 12 assists) as the Cavs won their third straight.

The Cavs never trailed, opening a 25-point lead in the third quarter before the Bulls temporarily pulled within 12 early in the fourth. Guard Jimmy Butler led Chicago with 20 points.

Raptors 92, Bucks 89

MILWAUKEE -- Point guard Kyle Lowry scored 18 points, and Toronto fended off a furious rally down the stretch and snapped a two-game losing streak with a victory over Milwaukee.

Lowry struggled with his shot all night, going 8-for-25 and 1-for-4 on 3-pointers, but he scored seven over the final quarter. Six Raptors scored in double digits, with center Jonas Valanciunas contributing 11 points and 13 rebounds.
 


Forward Ersan Ilyasova scored eight of his 14 points in the fourth, sparking the Bucks' surge. Guard Brandon Knight topped Milwaukee with 20 points.

Suns 115, Lakers 100

PHOENIX -- Reserve guard Isaiah Thomas scored 24 points, and starting guard Goran Dragic added 24 points and nine rebounds as Phoenix won its sixth straight home game.

Point guard Eric Bledsoe finished with 17 points and seven assists as the Suns outscored the Lakers 54-37 over the first 15 minutes of the second half after the teams played to a first-half draw. In the first three quarters, Bledsoe, Dragic and Thomas had combined for 53 of Phoenix's 87 points, making 21 of 29 shots from the floor.

Forward Nick Young had 24 points to lead the Lakers, who played without guard Kobe Bryant. It was a scheduled rest day for Bryant.

Trail Blazers 98, Kings 94

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Guard Damian Lillard scored 22 points, grabbed six rebounds and handed out five assists, leading Portland past Sacramento.

Guard Wesley Matthews added 17 points for the Trail Blazers, who ended a three-game losing streak. Portland forward LaMarcus Aldridge left the game in the second quarter with an injury to his left hand and did not return.

Forward Rudy Gay scored 26 points, and center DeMarcus Cousins collected 22 points, 19 rebounds and four blocked shots for the Kings, who lost their fourth in a row.
