[January 20, 2015]  LINCOLN - Patricia “Patty” Anne Sheldon, 84, of Lincoln, passed away at 12:47 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2015.

Visitation: From Noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home

Service: 2: p.m. on Saturday, January 24, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Obituary

Patricia A. “Patty” Sheldon (Girdler), 84, of Lincoln, IL died at 12:47 p.m. January 16, 2015 at home.

Pat was born in McLean, IL, on September 22, 1930, the daughter of Weldon and Bessie (Cook) Girdler. She married Wilbur “Bill” R. Sheldon on February 5, 1965 in Lincoln.

Pat attended Funks Grove School. Pat had a variety of jobs throughout her life, including working at the original Steak and Shake restaurant, Coca-Cola Factory, Kathryn Beich Chocolate Factory and JoAnn Fabric Store in Lincoln.

She also cared for many children throughout her lifetime. Her greatest role was providing a wonderful, loving home for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, embroidery, nature, and decorating for Christmas. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She leaves a legacy of compassion, humor, inner strength and humility. There is no doubt she was greeted into heaven with a “Well done my good and faithful servant”.

 

Surviving Pat are her children: Vickie Lusher of Olympia, WA, Debra (Robert) Hoefs of Lincoln, Anthony (Daryl Siverly) Sheldon of Santa Rosa, CA, Jacqueline (Jeff) Lessen of Lincoln; grandchildren: Adam Lusher, Ashleigh (Josh) Whitcomb, Jonathan (Christine) Lessen, Nathan (Alexandra) Hoefs, Joseph Lessen, Samuel Hoefs, and Kathryn Hoefs, and great grandchildren: Bryson and Bailey Lusher, and Skyler and McKenna Hoefs; step sisters: Mary Nichols, Billie Campbell, and Susan Becker.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Bill, daughter: Connie Jo Burger, parents: Weldon and Bessie Girdler, step mother Rose Girdler and step sister Ellen Campbell, brother: Robert Girdler, grandchild: Rusty Ranger, and two great grandchildren: Jace and Caylee Whitcomb.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2014 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. A visitation will be held from Noon-2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, or Safe Haven Hospice.
