[January 21, 2015]  Jan 20 (The Sports Xchange) - The Winnipeg Football Club and the NHL announced the sides were unable to finalize a date to hold the Heritage Classic at Investor's Group Field during the 2015-16 season, and will work to schedule the game for the following season.

The NHL reportedly wanted to play the game in late December, but the hockey club was pushing for a February date so as not to conflict with the Grey Cup held earlier in the month. But the league was opposed to February because of the All-Star Game and other outdoor games yet to be announced.

The Edmonton Oilers announced Tuesday that they will play a preseason game against the Minnesota Wild at the SaskTelCentre in Saskatoon, Sask. on Sept. 26.

The upper-body injury that Arizona Coyotes forward Mikkel Boedker sustained during Sunday's game against the Winnipeg Jets resulted in the removal of his spleen, the team announced Tuesday.

Boedker, who had surgery after the game to remove the ruptured spleen, is expected to be sidelined four to six weeks, The Arizona Republic reported.

The Calgary Flames placed defenseman Ladislav Smid on injured reserve and activated goaltender Karri Ramo on Tuesday.

In 16 games this season, Ramo has an 8-5 record with a 2.67 goals-against average and a .904 saves percentage.

The San Jose Sharks placed defenseman Justin Braun and forward Tommy Wingels, who both left Monday's loss to the New Jersey Devils with upper-body injuries, on injured reserve Tuesday.

Braun was injured blocking a shot and Wingels was slashed. Both could be on the shelf for a while. Wingels has 11 goals and 14 assists this season while Braun has one goal and 18 assists.

Forward Curtis McKenzie was reassigned to the Texas Stars, the Dallas Stars' development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

McKenzie, 23, has played in 14 games for Dallas this season, posting one goal and 19 penalty minutes. He has 13 points (nine assists) in 16 games this season.

The Florida Panthers reassigned forward Vincent Trocheck to San Antonio of the American Hockey League on Tuesday.

Appearing in 28 games for the Panthers this season, Trocheck has four goals and nine assists to boost his NHL career totals to nine goals and 12 assists in 48 games.

The Toronto Maple Leafs recalled forward Josh Leivo and defenseman Stuart Percy from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League and reassigned Troy Bodie and Sam Carrick to the Marlies on Tuesday.

Leivo, 21, has one goal and four penalty minutes in eight games for the Maple Leafs this season and four goals, nine assists and 11 penalty minutes in 17 games for the Marlies. Percy has seen action in eight games for the Maple Leafs this season and has three assists.

The Edmonton Oilers named Bob Green as director of player personnel on Tuesday.

The 53-year-old Green will oversee the Oilers' scouting operations while continuing to scout free agents from the college ranks and the minor leagues in the United States and Europe. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
