Eighth Grade Logan County Tournament wrap-up

[January 22, 2015]  LLINCOLN - In the third place game, Hartsburg-Emden defeated Mount Pulaski by a final of 37-21.

Justice Thompson led all scorers with 10 points in the win. Also scoring for the Stags was Brode Baker (8), Hunter Buck (6), Hayden Vetter (4), Austin Hayes (4), Wyatt Hopkins (3), and Dawson Watt (2).

The Stags will move on to the 8-1A Regional Tournament in Bartonville.

Jonathon Shehorn led the Bruins with eight points in the loss. Also scoring for Mount Pulaski was, Tanner Farris (5), Nolan Kirk (4), Michael Freer (2), Garret Skelton (1), and Dustin Murphy (1).

The Bruins will now move on to the 8-2A Regional hosted by Decatur Robertson.

In the championship game, the Carroll Catholic / New Holland-Middletown / Zion Luthern Crusaders rode the shooting of Brayton Brown to a 32-20 win over the West Lincoln Broadwell Wolverines, to win this year's Logan County Conference crown.

Brown led all scorers with 19 points while Payton Batley added six in the victory. Also scoring for the Crusaders was, Drew Singelton (3), Danvers Hoffert (2), and Dylan Singelton (2).

The Crusaders next move on to host an 8-1A Regional Tournament in Middeltown.

Kaden Froebe netted 12 points for the Wolverines in the loss. Also scoring for WLB was, Shane Shumard (4), Kade Schmidt (2), and Kameron Whiteman (2).

The Wolverines will travel to Middletown as well for 8-1A Regional Tournament action.

The Logan County Conference and member schools would like to thank Lincoln College and John Andrews and his staff for again hosting both our 7th and 8th grade conference tournaments.

Congratulations to the Crusaders and good luck to all teams as they move on to regional action.
