Paul Beaver to be guest speaker at Elkhart dinner lecture

[January 29, 2015]  ELKHART - The Elkhart Historical Society announces the first of its Dinner Lecture Series for 2015, featuring popular speaker and historian Paul Beaver, Professor Emeritus from Lincoln College.

Professor Beaver will present “From War’s Ashes to the Birth of Lincoln College,” which gives insights on the founding of Lincoln University (now Lincoln College), which was the first and only institution named for Abraham Lincoln during his lifetime.

The event will be on Saturday, January 31, at 5:30 p.m. at Horsefeather’s Wild Hare Café, 104 Governor Oglesby Street in Elkhart. (A postponement date of Tuesday, February 3 at 5:30 p.m. has been added in the event of inclement weather.)

The dinner menu includes two meat choices Roast Pork Tenderloin or Beef Bourguignon and will be served with mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, salad, rolls, dessert choice of Fruit Crisp with Dollop of Cream or Ice Cream with Chocolate Sauce, coffee, tea, or iced tea.

Ticket price includes dinner and the lecture. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 217- 947-2238. Forms can be obtained online at www.elkharthistoricalsociety.org,  or in Elkhart at either The Country Bumpkin (103 Governor Oglesby Street) or Horsefeathers.
