Something to look forward to; Spring for Tea tickets go on sale next week

[January 30, 2015]  LINCOLN - A harbinger of Spring is appearing with the announcement of the beginning of ticket sales for the annual Harvest of Talents kickoff event ~ Spring for Tea.

Marcia Bidwell, Tea Chairperson, today released the news that ticket sales will begin on Monday, February 2, for the April 18 event, the first of several leading up to the annual Harvest of Talents for World Hunger on Saturday, October 24. A limited number of tickets will be on sale in the office of Lincoln Christian Church during regular office hours on Monday through Friday.

Spring for Tea will be held in the Fellowship Center of Lincoln Christian Church. Doors to the event will open at 1045 a.m. with tea being served at 11:30 a.m. The Tea features a number of beautiful tea tables, each uniquely appointed with lovely china, silver and crystal and offering a wide variety of themes and décor. Tables are decorated and hosted by women from throughout the community.

A variety of traditional and tasty tea foods will be served, including dainty tea sandwiches, mini cookies , sweets, nuts and other delicacies, accompanied by the traditional Spring for Tea blend of tea. Music will provide background ambiance for the taking of tea.

Men in Black will again serve as tearoom greeters for the guests, escorting them to their appointed tables. In keeping with tradition, guests will be invited to participate in a promenade of the beautifully decorated tables as they await the serving of tea.

Throughout the partaking of tea a number of lovely door prizes, provided by local individuals and businesses, will be presented to those in attendance. Following a time of tea and conversation a special program will be presented.

Chairperson Bidwell, encourages women in the community to participate in the Harvest of Talents fundraising event. She commented, “After the bleakness and cold of winter we welcome the coming of warmer days and the delicate colors and fragrance of Spring. We hope to provide a lovely setting for groupings of friends and family to come together to herald the coming of Spring, sharing foods especially prepared for them and enjoying sweet fellowship.” Bidwell added, “Why not declare a “Ladies Day Out” and usher in Spring by attending Spring for Tea at Lincoln Christian Church? Gather a group of friends/relatives and come join us. You will enjoy a tasty, memorable event while at the same time providing funds to feed hungry people worldwide.”

Spring for Tea is the premiere annual spring event of the Harvest of Talents for World Hunger and is the first of several 2015 events of the local hunger ministry. The Harvest of Talents for World Hunger, now in its 32nd year, is a unique ministry of the Lincoln Christian Church. Partnering with International Disaster Emergency Service, the Lincoln Church has raised $1,917,746.94, through the 31st Harvest, every penny of which has gone to feeding programs, orphanages and missions worldwide, providing both physical and spiritual food to those in need. A number of Harvests across the United States, having been birthed by the founding Harvest in Lincoln, have together raised an additional $2,000,000.00 to feed the hungry.

The 32nd Annual Harvest of Talents for World Hunger will be held on the 4th Saturday in October in the Fellowship Center of Lincoln Christian Church.
