"Our Town" Mount Pulaski plans summer celebration for this Friday

[July 08, 2015]  LINCOLN - On Friday afternoon, the city of Mount Pulaski will host a large celebration in honor of being recognized as an "Our Town" community on WCIA 3 television.

The festivities will begin at 3 p.m. and conclude at approximately 8 p.m.

Throughout the afternoon and evening there will be a large variety of activities include food, games, and special recognitions in honor of the 167th year of the historic Mount Pulaski Courthouse.

Everyone who comes to town to join in the celebration is encouraged to stop in at the Mount Pulaski Courthouse and sign the guestbook.  Please sign in between the hours of 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.  Those who do, will be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate package from local Mount Pulaski Businesses.

Following is a list of activities:

FOOD  All food located on Washington Street

  • hot dogs, chips, drinks (Volleyball girls)
  • pork chop sandwiches (Boy Scouts Troop 122)
  • brats & polish sausage (Hilltop Catering)
  • mini donuts (Latham United Methodist Church)

FREE cake and ice cream at 5:30 p.m.

STATE FARM Customer appreciation cookout from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

ACTIVITIES

  • 4 to 7 p.m. - meet the WCIA anchors
  • 4 to 8 p.m. - Basketball on Cooke (team will play 4-6, open basketball from 6-8 sponsored by boys’ basketball)
  • 4 to 5 p.m. - 108th Street band 4-5 at gazebo on Courthouse lawn
  • 5:30 p.m. - Recognition of Courthouse Volunteers & Courthouse Birthday Celebration in front of Courthouse
  • 6 p.m. - Town wide photo in front of Courthouse
  • 6 p.m. - Katie (Maske) Florczyk Super Sassy Spectacles book signing on Washington
  • 6:10 to 6:15 p.m. (approx.) - Drawing for Mt. Pulaski Gift Certificate package following town wide photo
  • 6:15 p.m. - Gettysburg Address by former 3rd grade class in front of Courthouse
  • 6:20 p.m. - Mt. Pulaski Grade School Cheerleaders 6:20 in front of courthouse
  • 6:30 to 8 p.m. - Community Band at the gazebo on courthouse lawn

TRACTOR SHOW

There will also be a tractor show at the Mount Pulaski Grade School located on North Gardent Street.

The show will be held on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

The show is open to all who wish to show off their tractor.  entries may be of any variety and any age.  Anyone wishing to participate should call John at 217-671-9867.
