 Witness reports say that the vehicles were immediately engulfed
in flames. One witness reported attempting to get to the drivers of
the vehicles, but he was unable. Extensive fire damage hindered
identification of the victims for most of the day on Tuesday and
into Wednesday. The victims were taken to McLean County for an
autopsy with Logan County Coroner Robert Thomas assisting in the
identification and notification process for the Lincoln resident.
The official time of death for both victims was set by the McLean
County Coroner as 11 a.m. The accident is under investigation by the
Macon County Sheriff’s office and exact causes of death are pending
at this time.
